| With the help of the Swiss, the Tibetans started the process of making rugs in Katmandu and selling them to Europe. The rugs were typically made in Traditional designs and shipped to Europe. German buyers from Europe started purchasing Tibetan rugs in large quantities which established the carpet industry in Nepal.
